Site Details

Sruhill Lough is a large, kidney-shaped intertidal lake on the northeastern side of Achill Island. Most famous for its resident drake Black Duck (beware hybrids!), the lough's potential for attracting Nearctic vagrants was realised only as recently as autumn 2011, when four Semipalmated Sandpipers were found among other highlights. Otter may also be seen here.
