- Description
- I was working my way up the path around Incombe Hole on a clear and cold February afternoon. Not much wildlife to photograph so I decided to take a photo of the moon that had risen from the trees to the east. Just as I started to focus on the moon, an out of focus bird moved across the view finder and proceeded to hang just below the moon. Quickly focussing on the bird, which I now I identified as a kestrel it stayed in position for about 30 seconds whilst I took photos. A bit far away for photos but I thought it was an interesting composition. It remained in place despite the wind and me wishing it would just move a little to be fully framed by the moon. This male kestrel appears to have a hanging damaged foot or leg. What luck, probably never to be repeated. I should have popped out to buy a lottery ticket.
